What is Urethral Prolapse?
Urethral Prolapse (Urethrocele) is a condition in which the inner lining of the urethra, the tube that carries urine out of the body, presses against the anterior vaginal wall and sticks out of the vaginal opening. It is a type of Pelvic Organ Prolapse.
It often occurs in young girls and post-menopausal women and can cause discomfort, pain, and difficulty in urination. You may leak a little when you laugh, cough, or jump. In pregnancy and childbirth, frequent constipation can weaken the muscles and tissues as well as we age.
Being told, 'Go home and do your Kegels,' doesn't work. We need and deserve a more informed approach.
